Healthy Teeth & Gums!!
Taking care of your teeth and gums is easy!!!
Focusing on preventive appointments every 4 or 6 months at the clinic, really is key to prevent teeth cavities and gum diseases: catching it early makes a huge difference, and it’s cool that you’re taking a more holistic view of wellness by looking at the mouth’s health as a reflection of overall well-being.
During your visit at our clinic:
- We will discuss your oral history and health and our hygienist will clean your teeth with ultrasonic equipment removing plaque and tartar, take measurements, floss, and gently polish your teeth.
- Taking a full set of your mouth with photos helps us explain and show you things you might not be able to see.
- We will perform a comprehensive oral exam to check the health of your mouth, discuss your oral health and answer any questions you may have or address priorities of yours and make recommendations.
Home Dental Care:
We want to emphasize the importance of at-home care between visits, since it’s such a big part of maintaining oral health.
We recommend you this basics dental care routine include:
- Brushing properly: Using a soft-bristled toothbrush and brushing for at least two minutes, twice a day. It’s also good to replace your toothbrush every 3 months or so, or sooner if the bristles are frayed.
- Flossing: Many people skip this, but flossing once a day is one of the best ways to keep your gums healthy and prevent plaque buildup between your teeth.
- Mouthwash: Using an alcohol-free mouthwash can help rinse away bacteria and freshen breath. Some types also help with gum health and even reduce plaque buildup.
- Diet: Eating crunchy fruits and vegetables, like apples or carrots, can help keep teeth clean naturally. Also, being mindful of sugary foods and drinks, since they can increase plaque buildup and lead to cavities.
- Hydration: Drinking plenty of water helps keep your mouth moist and aids in washing away food particles and bacteria.
I also give my patients personalized advice, depending on their oral health history and specific concerns, like gum sensitivity or teeth grinding, or teeth sensitivity.
